So many young people suffer from a lack of responsibility and an inability to make accomplishments in their life. Without focus and goals, they roam from one thing to another without prospect for the future. The Semi Driving School at Mount Carmel Youth Ranch is a help for these troubled teens. Not only do they learn safety and caution, trust and confidence, but they also come away with the ability to take the CDL test with confidence when they graduate from the program. This accomplishment improves their self-esteem and teaches them integrity. Then they immediately have an oportunity to get a job with any number of trucking companies and the financial ability to care for their own needs. The teen takes charge of his future, can pay for his college education with summer work and is ready to embrace the responsibilities of adulthood.
The students are trained at Mount Carmel Youth Ranch in the classroom studying the CDL manuels with tests and quizes from experienced drivers and teachers. Then they are taken out into the semi and shown how every part of what they learned is put into practice. They accompany real drivers while they do their deliveries and are carefully tutored on all the aspects of semi truck driving. Finally, they get hands on experience of driving a semi through an off road obstacle course at Mount Carmel Youth Ranch.
